The History of ZADR
By Katie a.k.a. Kage-rod
In the early 1990s, a little known mad scientist named Jhonen Vasquez released his documentary on a hidden alternate dimension he had found several years before to Carpe Noctem. He had tried for several years to get proper research facilities to publish it, but was always rejected, on account that all he had to record the strange reality was a pen and paper, and had made his documentary into a comic. It didnt help that he looked kind of strange.
Slave Labor Graphics saw the documentary as a great read, and decided to publish it as a larger book form, and the scientist decided to relent and let them believe it was false.
He found a new chance when the clocks turned to midnight on the eve of December 31st, 1999. A portal opened up in his living room, and recognizing it as the entrance to the strange world he had been before, grabbed his camera recorder and dived in. He came upon the child Dib, and the alien Zim. For a year, he recorded these two intresting beings before returning to our realm. Upon his return, he immediately started to bring it to all of the research companies he went to before, but was turned away again. Giving up entirely, he sold it to Nickelodeon, who broadcasted it as a cartoon for older children.
Some of the fans of the show, however, could see through the lies; they knew, like Jhonen Vasquez, that it was indeed a real universe. Teaming up through the internet, they searched out an open portal in the middle of nowhere (a place slightly north of Old Crow in the Canadian Yukon). As they entered the alternate dimension, they stumbled upon the unknowing stars of the documentary. The pair had gotten older and wore skin-tight, revealing emo-tastic clothes, and were in a very
compromising position. The fans were propelled back into our world by the power of their nosebleeds, and the portal shut behind them. Immediately, they turned to the power of the internet to spread the word of ZADR Zim and Dib Romance across the webpages.
Now, in the year 2007, only these original ZADR fans know that the romance between Zim and Dib is as real as they themselves are real, but are content to simply tell others of the truth, even if it is passed off as a hot fan pairing.
